Fabio Zgraggen from Appenzell is co-founder of the humanitarian pilot initiative. His mission: to stop watching the dying off the European coast. In summer 2016, he and his team flew the first sea rescue flight over the Mediterranean. But now the Maltese authorities are standing in the 33-year-old's way.
