OUR MISSION
Since 2015, HPI pioneers civil aviation to help people in need, by performing critically needed operations in different parts of the world. As a humanitarian force multiplier with more than 3.000 hours of experience, we identify and close capability gaps when responding to ongoing humanitarian crises. Such a gap currently exists with regards to the efficient evacuation of vulnerable refugees from Russia’s war on Ukraine.
WE EVACUATED PEOPLE FROM UKRAINE’S BORDERS WHO
-
due to injury / illness are vulnerable to further harm during multi-day travel on the road, or completely unable to flee overland (i.e. due to an ongoing chemotherapy, need for dialysis, or complex fractures.
-
are pregnant, especially in case of a risk of complications during delivery
-
qualify as close dependents of the above
WE DIDN’T GO EMPTY-HANDED, BUT CARRIED ESSENTIAL,
URGENTLY NEEDED SUPPLIES FOR REFUGEES
-
Medical equipment running low, necessary to avoid death or grave bodily harm
-
Civil protection equipment (i.e. water purification tools)
-
Any other requested humanitarian goods in case of surplus cargo space/payload
Our operation was carefully focused: First, it came to the help of a group of refugees not injured badly enough to require a full medical transport, but sufficiently vulnerable to suffer serious harm on a multi- day overland trip. And secondly, its geographic center of gravity is in northeastern Romania or Moldova, where local infrastructure is the weakest of all border regions, and the overland trip to safety by far thelongest and most dangerous. Thus, we ensured the efficient use of available resources.
Aid us in lending a hand to people who urgently need to get to safety from a ruthless invader. Financial donations are absolutely crucial for us to continue our work. Additional aircraft for our Civil Aviation Network are also welcome. Join us in making a difference and send us a message at can@hpi.swiss for more information on what is currently needed. Together, we can at least limit the harm done by the return of war to Europe.
HOW TO TAKE ACTION
We are working closely together with UAR to organise these flights.
For medical evacuations we are working together with Malteser Hilfsdienst Rettungsdienst Hessen, who provide medical staff.
